Aglet Island is little more than a rock sticking out of the sea, inhabited almost solely by puffins. However, this does not reflect its importance. Situated between the Bay of Lemora and the sea, many ships have been swept on to the rocky spikes at its base over the years. As a result, around 200 years ago a lighthouse was built on the island, which has prevented many further disasters over the years. It is no longer manned, however, being controlled electronically, with weekly inspections to ensure everything is in order.
