Speaker of the House of Commons

The Speaker of the House of Commons is arguably the most important position in the House. The incumbent is in charge of organising votes, including the general election, and the question times, and has the power to silence any member of the House as he or she deems appropriate. As a result, little goes on in the House without the Speaker's approval.
